ASP Nuke Tasks:

Documentation Module in Development
by Kenneth Richards - Thursday, November 13, 2003
from the Development dept.

Currently, I am developing a documentation system where I can create reference documents for the ASP Nuke project. This will store web documents in the database and organize them in categories and books.

I have written a book authoring system before which allows you to create a hierarchical list of sections and organize them under one book. From these sections, the table-of-contents and sections can be built automatically. Not to mention the entire navigation for the different sections.

By placing all of the documents in our database, we provide an easy mechanism for searching for relevant documentation.

I would love to do some sort of DocBook implementation of the reference notes so that we have a common format for the documents. I think that it is too early to take on such a daunting task. For now, we will just do our own proprietary format and work later on building export functionality for different formats.

One of our first tasks will be to document the installation and module development task since these are probably the two most importants aspects of the ASP Nuke project. My current project is to rework the modularity of the Nuke project.

I hope the existance of reference docs for the install, configuration and development of modules will encourage others to start contributing code (and modules) to this project. I plan on having another release out relatively soon, I have been hit with a nasty cold virus and it has been delaying my efforts.
