ASP Nuke 0.70 is on the Loose
by Kenneth Richards - Tuesday, January 20, 2004
from the Software Releases dept.
The latest release of ASP Nuke has just been launched. Version 0.7 brings a whole host of bug fixes which is a result of the new development cycle recently announced. It also completes the forum administration, task manager module, random quotes administration as well as fixes a whole slew of outstanding bugs.
With this release, it clears my plate to start working on documentation for the framework and how module development is done. I'll also try to throw in some API documentation that will allow developers to extend the framework or existing modules.
Also included in this release is the language translation module which allows you to create translations of the ASP Nuke interface. Translation work on this site has been pretty slow recently, it looks like we might get our first translation done sometime around the year 2017. I might have to work up some incentives to get this project going. As mentioned in our discussion forums, I still need to eliminate the sentence fragments that exist in the translation database to make the job of translation easier. In the meantime, translators can just work on translating the complete sentences.
Another improvement is with the counts of messages and threads on the discussion forums. Now the counts for forum topics and message threads are updated each time a post or reply is made. This ensures that the counts are always accurate and consistant. You may still notice the caching of the forum counts that are displayed in the small capsule (in the left-hand column) may cause the counts to be unsynchronized for a minute or two.
With this new release, I believe we have reached a stability level where ASP Nuke can be used in a production environment. However, I haven't yet developed any provision to migrate the database schema and data from an older version of ASP Nuke to a newer version. I think you will see this in the next major release (0.80).
The download may be found on the right-hand side of the screen under the Web Links heading. I strongly encourage people to use this new version... especially those who have never tried ASP Nuke before. The site administration includes integrated help documents that will help you to understand the individual modules and their uses. Please send us any and all bug reports, comments and suggestions to us here at: [email protected].
