ASP Nuke Tasks:

ASP Nuke Themes Under Development
by Kenneth Richards - Thursday, January 27, 2005
from the Themes dept.

I am currently putting together a specification for how themes will work using the ASP Nuke framework. This will also incorporate the long-awaited template system which will allow you to make changes to the HTML code that builds the site through the web-based administration tools.

Previous work on ASP Nuke has focused on putting all of the data into the database for easier processing. With the themes package we will break with tradtion and place the "default theme" information on the local filesystem and allow you to over-ride the standard templates with modifications of your own. This will allow you to revert to the original template should you ever have a problem.

I will be posting specifications for this standard on the site soon so you can have an idea of what to look forward to. My hope is to have a download area where you can preview and download theme packages. These packages will be standard "zip" archives which you can unpack into an ASP Nuke theme directory. ASP Nuke will automatically detect when new themes have been added and allow you (as an administrator) to activate the theme for your site.
